Why Trust This Guide?
This guide has been written by the team at OKTShirt, a professional custom clothing company based in Great Barr.
Everything you'll read comes from real production experience rather than theory. Every week we print and embroider garments for businesses, schools, universities, sports clubs, charities and clothing brands using our own commercial equipment.
The photographs throughout this article show genuine customer projects completed inside our workshop, while our customer reviews reflect the experiences of people who have trusted us with their clothing orders.
Rather than promoting a single printing method, we explain the advantages and limitations of DTG printing, DTF printing and embroidery so you can choose the most appropriate solution for your garments.
Our aim is simple: to provide honest advice, produce high-quality clothing and help every customer make an informed decision before placing an order.
1. Why Choose Professional Custom Printing?
Why Professional Custom Printing Makes a Difference
Whether you're ordering a single personalised T-shirt or outfitting an entire workforce with branded uniforms, the quality of the finished garment depends on far more than simply applying a logo to fabric. Professional custom printing combines the right garment, the correct decoration method, high-quality artwork and commercial production equipment to create clothing that looks professional, lasts longer and represents your brand with confidence.
Many people assume that all printed clothing is the same. In reality, the finished result can vary significantly depending on the printing method, garment quality and the experience of the company producing it. A poor-quality print may crack, fade or peel after only a few washes, while an incorrectly chosen decoration method can result in colours that appear dull or artwork that doesn't suit the fabric.

Every garment is produced in-house at our Great Barr workshop using commercial DTG, DTF and embroidery equipment.
At OKTShirt, we help every customer choose the most appropriate decoration method before production begins. Rather than recommending a single solution for every order, we consider the type of garment, the intended use, the artwork, the quantity required and the customer's budget. This ensures every order receives the most suitable combination of garment and printing technique.
Professional custom clothing also delivers measurable benefits for businesses, organisations and individuals. Branded garments help create a consistent image, improve brand recognition and present a more professional appearance to customers. For clothing brands, high-quality printing enhances the perceived value of each garment. At the same time, sports clubs, schools and charities benefit from durable decoration that continues to look great after repeated washing and regular use.
Some of the key advantages of professional garment decoration include:
- Consistent, high-quality print and embroidery.
- Professional appearance that reflects your brand.
- Long-lasting decoration with excellent wash durability.
- Expert advice on garments and decoration methods.
- Greater flexibility for both small and large orders.
- Reliable production using commercial equipment.
- Better colour accuracy and print consistency.
- Local support from experienced garment decoration specialists.
Unlike many online-only suppliers, OKTShirt produces every order in-house from our workshop in Great Barr, Birmingham. This allows us to maintain complete quality control throughout every stage of production, from artwork preparation to the final quality inspection before collection or dispatch.
Whether you're creating uniforms for your staff, launching a clothing brand, organising a charity event or producing promotional merchandise, investing in professional custom printing helps ensure your garments represent your organisation in the best possible way.
2. Inside Our Print Shop
Inside Our Great Barr Print Shop
Every printed or embroidered garment begins inside our workshop in Great Barr, Birmingham. Unlike businesses that outsource production to third-party suppliers, we complete the vast majority of our work in-house, giving us complete control over quality, consistency and turnaround times.

Our Birmingham showroom displays a range of printed garments, allowing customers to compare colours, fabrics and printing methods before ordering.
From the moment a customer contacts us, we aim to make the ordering process straightforward and transparent. We begin by discussing the project, understanding how the garments will be used and reviewing the supplied artwork. If improvements are needed to achieve the best possible print or embroidery result, our team will provide practical advice before production starts.
Once the artwork has been approved, we select the most appropriate production method based on the garment type, design complexity and intended use. Different projects require different decoration techniques, and choosing the correct process is one of the most important decisions in garment printing.
Our workshop is equipped with professional commercial machinery capable of producing everything from individual personalised garments to large bulk orders. 4. DTG vs DTF vs Embroidery (Comprehensive)
DTG vs DTF vs Embroidery: Which Printing Method Is Best?
One of the most common questions we receive is:
"Which is better: DTG printing, DTF printing or embroidery?"
The honest answer is that there isn't a single best option. Each decoration method has its own strengths, and the right choice depends on the garment, artwork and intended use.
Rather than recommending one process for every order, we assess each project individually to ensure the chosen decoration method delivers the best possible result.
DTG (Direct to Garment)
DTG printing involves applying specialist textile inks directly into the fibres of cotton garments using commercial digital printing equipment.
Best for:
- Fashion brands
- Cotton T-shirts
- Detailed artwork
- Photographs
- Small quantities
- Personalised clothing
Advantages
- Extremely soft finish
- Unlimited colours
- Excellent photographic detail
- Breathable print
- Ideal for premium cotton garments
Limitations
- Best suited to cotton fabrics
- Not ideal for some polyester garments
DTF (Direct to Film)
DTF printing transfers artwork from a specialist film onto the garment using heat and pressure.
Best for:
- Workwear
- Polyester clothing
- Hoodies
- Sportswear
- Mixed fabrics
- Company uniforms
Advantages
- Excellent durability
- Bright colours
- Suitable for multiple fabrics
- Highly versatile
- Great for logos
Limitations
- Slightly thicker finish than DTG
- Large solid areas may feel less breathable
Professional Embroidery
Embroidery stitches coloured thread directly into the garment, creating a textured, premium finish.

Professional embroidery caps in the OK T-shirt shop
Best for:
- Company uniforms
- Polo shirts
- Jackets
- Caps
- Fleeces
- Corporate branding
Advantages
- Premium appearance
- Exceptional durability
- Excellent wash resistance
- Professional corporate image
- Long-lasting finish
Limitations
- Not suitable for photographs
- Very large stitched areas can add weight to lightweight garments
Which Method Do We Recommend?
Rather than asking which decoration method is "best", it's more useful to ask which method is best for your specific project.
For example:
- A fashion brand with detailed artwork will often benefit from DTG printing.
- A construction company requiring branded uniforms may be better suited to embroidery.
- A sports club ordering polyester training tops will usually achieve the best results with DTF printing.
Our role is to recommend the most suitable solution—not simply the quickest or easiest option.
By understanding your artwork, garment choice and intended use, we can ensure the finished product looks professional, performs well and continues to represent your brand long after production.
5. DTF Printing Explained
What is DTF Printing?
Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing has become one of the most versatile garment decoration methods available today. Instead of printing directly onto the garment, the design is first printed onto a specialist film, then transferred to the fabric using heat and pressure.
The result is a vibrant, durable print that adheres to a wide variety of materials, making DTF an excellent solution for garments that are not suitable for DTG printing.
At OKTShirt, we regularly recommend DTF printing for customers who require flexibility across different garment types, particularly when decorating polyester, blended fabrics or specialist workwear.
Unlike some traditional transfer methods, modern DTF technology produces bright colours, crisp detail and excellent durability while maintaining good flexibility in the finished print.
Benefits of DTF printing
Customers choose DTF because it offers:
- Suitable for cotton, polyester and blended fabrics
- Vibrant colours with excellent opacity
- Highly durable finish
- Ideal for sportswear and workwear
- Excellent for logos and bold artwork
- Suitable for both small and large production runs
When do we recommend DTF?
DTF printing is commonly chosen for:
- Workwear
- Hi-vis clothing
- Sports kits
- Promotional garments
- Events
- Staff uniforms
- Corporate clothing
- School clothing
Because DTF performs well across a wide range of fabrics, it is one of the most versatile printing methods available for commercial garment decoration.

6. Professional Embroidery Explained
Why choose embroidery?
Embroidery remains one of the most prestigious and durable methods of decorating clothing. Rather than applying ink to the fabric, coloured threads are stitched directly into the garment using commercial embroidery machines, creating a premium textured finish that is designed to last.
For businesses looking to present a professional image, embroidered clothing often creates a stronger first impression than printed garments. The raised stitching adds depth and durability, making embroidery particularly suitable for uniforms that are worn and washed frequently.
At OKTShirt, we produce embroidered clothing in-house using professional multi-needle embroidery equipment, allowing us to maintain consistent stitch quality throughout every order.
Embroidery is ideal for:
- Polo shirts
- Hoodies
- Jackets
- Fleeces
- Softshell jackets
- Caps
- Beanies
- Aprons
- Hi-vis workwear
- Hospitality uniforms
Many businesses choose embroidery because it provides a long-lasting finish that resists fading and maintains a professional appearance even after repeated washing.
Benefits of embroidery
Professional embroidery offers numerous advantages:
- Premium appearance
- Exceptional durability
- Excellent wash resistance
- Professional corporate image
- Long lifespan
- Suitable for heavy-use uniforms
- Perfect for company logos
Although embroidery is ideal for logos and text, very large photographic designs are generally better suited to DTG or DTF printing. During every consultation, we help customers choose the decoration method that best suits both their artwork and the garment's intended use.

7. Real Customer Project
Real Customer Project: 300 Custom Cat T-Shirts for an Independent Clothing Brand
One of the best ways to understand the quality of our work is to look at real customer projects completed in our Birmingham workshop.
Recently, we had the pleasure of producing a large order of custom-printed T-shirts for Laura Horvath, who travelled from Erdington after researching local printing companies and reading our Google reviews.
Laura wanted to launch a unique range of cat-themed T-shirts featuring multiple original designs printed across a variety of garment colours. The project included several artwork variations and required consistent print quality across every garment, regardless of colour.
Because the designs featured fine details, subtle shading, and intricate line work, we recommended Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing on our premium 100% cotton garments. This printing method allowed every illustration to retain its sharp detail while producing a soft, comfortable finish suitable for everyday wear.
Throughout production, every garment was individually inspected to ensure colour consistency, accurate print placement and overall quality before being folded and prepared for collection.
The finished collection included multiple colour combinations featuring designs such as:
- "I'm Not Conceited... Just a Cat."
- "Cute But Psycho"
- "Processing Human Stupidity"
- "My Stare Is Stronger Than Your Coffee"
- "Fluff Off!"
The result was a vibrant collection of premium printed garments that perfectly represented Laura's clothing brand.
What Laura Said
"Fantastic place! We travelled all the way from Erdington, and it was absolutely worth it. The printing quality is flawless, but it's the atmosphere of the shop that makes the experience truly special. The owner is an extremely kind and helpful gentleman, and it was a real joy to see that the shop has its own resident cat. It's a truly animal-friendly place where you don't just get professional work, but a bit of extra kindness too. I highly recommend it to everyone!"
Laura Horvath - satisfied client who gave a 5-star rating review for OK T-shirt
Reviews like this reinforce the importance of combining professional production with excellent customer service. While print quality remains our highest priority, we also believe every customer should enjoy a straightforward and friendly experience from the moment they contact us until their garments are ready for collection.

9. Choosing the Right Garments
Choosing the Right Garment for Your Project
Even the highest-quality print cannot compensate for a poor-quality garment. Selecting the right T-shirt, hoodie, or workwear is just as important as choosing the correct printing method.
Different customers have different priorities. Some require premium, heavyweight garments for clothing brands, while others need practical workwear that can withstand daily use.
Before production begins, we help customers consider several important factors.
Intended Use
Will the garment be worn every day as a work uniform?
Will it be sold as fashion apparel?
Is it for a promotional event?
Understanding the purpose helps determine the most suitable garment.

Embroidered branded t-shirt with OK T-shirt
Fabric Type
Different fabrics perform differently with various decoration methods.
Examples include:
- 100% cotton
- Polyester
- Cotton/polyester blends
- Heavyweight cotton
- Lightweight performance fabrics
Budget
We offer garments across a wide range of price points without compromising production quality.
Comfort
Comfort plays an important role, particularly for uniforms worn throughout the working day.
Durability
Customers often prefer garments that retain both their shape and printed decoration after repeated washing.
Sustainability
Many manufacturers now offer responsibly sourced garments that combine excellent quality with improved environmental credentials.
By discussing these factors before production, we help customers invest in garments that best suit their needs rather than simply choosing the cheapest option.
10. Common Mistakes Customers Make
Common Mistakes Customers Make When Ordering Custom Clothing
Ordering printed or embroidered clothing is straightforward, but several common mistakes can affect the final result if not addressed before production.
Choosing the Wrong Decoration Method
Not every design is suitable for every printing technique. Selecting the correct process significantly improves both appearance and durability.
Using Low-Resolution Artwork
Small images copied from social media or screenshots often produce poor-quality prints.

Stlgia brand comparison logo stitch
Where possible, we recommend:
- AI
- EPS
- SVG
- High-resolution PNG
Prioritising Price Over Quality
Very cheap garments often shrink, lose shape or provide a poorer printing surface.
A slightly higher-quality garment usually offers significantly better long-term value.
Ordering the Wrong Sizes
Large team orders should always include a size list to minimise unnecessary exchanges.
Leaving Orders Until the Last Minute
Events, exhibitions and business launches often have fixed deadlines.
Ordering in advance provides more flexibility and reduces unnecessary pressure.
Not Asking for Advice
Many customers initially believe they know which printing method they need, only to discover a better alternative after discussing their project with our team.
Our role isn't simply to print garments—it's to recommend the solution that will achieve the best possible result.

Printing
1. What is custom T-shirt printing?
Custom T-shirt printing is the process of adding your own design, logo, text or artwork onto a T-shirt using professional printing methods such as DTG (Direct to Garment) or DTF (Direct to Film). It allows businesses, clothing brands, schools, sports clubs and individuals to create unique garments for uniforms, events, promotions or personal use.
At OKTShirt, every garment is printed in-house at our Birmingham workshop using commercial equipment. We can produce anything from a single personalised T-shirt to large bulk orders for businesses and organisations. Before printing, we help customers choose the most suitable garment and decoration method to achieve the best possible result.
Related guide: DTG vs DTF Printing – Which Method Should You Choose?
2. Which printing method is best for cotton?
For 100% cotton garments, DTG (Direct to Garment) printing is usually the best option, especially if your design contains fine details, gradients or photographs. DTG produces a soft, breathable print because the ink is absorbed directly into the fabric rather than sitting on top of it.
If your artwork is simpler or your project involves mixed fabric types, DTF printing can also be an excellent choice.
The best printing method depends on several factors, including the garment, artwork, quantity and intended use. We always recommend the most suitable option rather than using the same printing method for every order.
3. Which printing method lasts the longest?
There isn't one single printing method that's best for every project.
Embroidery is generally the most durable option because the design is stitched directly into the garment using thread rather than printed with ink.
For printed garments, both DTG and DTF can last for many years when high-quality garments are used, and the clothing is cared for correctly. Washing garments inside out, using lower temperatures and avoiding tumble drying will help maintain the print for longer.
Choosing the correct printing method for the garment is just as important as following the recommended washing instructions.
4. What is the difference between DTG and DTF printing?
Although both methods produce full-colour prints, they work in different ways.
DTG (Direct to Garment) prints directly onto the fabric using specialised textile inks. It is ideal for cotton garments and produces a soft, natural feel with excellent detail.
DTF (Direct to Film) prints onto a special transfer film, which is then heat-pressed onto the garment. It works well on cotton, polyester and blended fabrics, making it a versatile choice for workwear, sportswear and uniforms.
If you're unsure which method is right for your project, we can recommend the most suitable option based on your artwork and garments.
5. Is embroidery better than printing?
Neither method is better—it depends on what you're trying to achieve.
Embroidery is ideal for company logos, uniforms, polo shirts, jackets and workwear because it creates a premium stitched finish that is extremely durable.
Printing is usually the better option for detailed artwork, photographs, large graphics or colourful illustrations that cannot be recreated using thread.
Many businesses actually combine both methods. For example, embroidered polo shirts for staff uniforms and printed T-shirts for promotional events or giveaways.
6. Can you print photographs?
Yes. We can print high-quality photographs, detailed illustrations and full-colour artwork using DTG printing. This printing method is perfect for designs with fine detail, gradients and unlimited colours.
For the best results, we recommend supplying a high-resolution image. Low-quality screenshots or images downloaded from social media may not produce a sharp print.
If you're unsure whether your artwork is suitable, we're happy to check it before production begins.
7. Can you print gradients?
Yes. Modern digital printing methods, such as DTG, can reproduce gradients, shadows, and colour transitions with excellent accuracy.
Gradients are commonly used in clothing brands, photography, artwork and graphic design because they create a much more realistic appearance than solid colours alone.
If your design contains subtle colour blending, DTG is usually the most suitable printing method.
8. Can you print white ink?
Yes. Our professional printing equipment can print white ink where required.
White ink is commonly used when printing on black or dark-coloured garments because it creates a solid base layer that helps brighter colours remain vibrant.
Without white ink, colours printed directly onto dark garments would appear dull or transparent. Using a proper white underbase ensures your finished design has strong colour, excellent contrast and a professional appearance.
9. Do printed T-shirts crack after washing?
A professionally printed T-shirt should not crack after just a few washes.
Cracking usually occurs when low-quality printing methods are used, the garment is washed incorrectly, or poor-quality materials are used during production.
At OKTShirt, we use professional printing equipment and quality garments designed to withstand regular wear. To maximise the lifespan of your print, we recommend washing garments inside out at around 30°C, avoiding bleach and allowing them to air-dry whenever possible.
Following these simple care instructions will help keep your printed clothing looking its best for years.
10. How long do printed T-shirts last?
A professionally printed T-shirt can last for many years when made with high-quality materials and properly cared for.
The lifespan depends on several factors, including the printing method, garment quality, how often it is worn and how it is washed.
We recommend washing printed garments inside out, using a low washing temperature and avoiding harsh detergents or high-heat tumble drying. These simple steps help protect both the fabric and the printed design.
Many of our customers continue to wear garments long after hundreds of washes because the correct printing method was chosen from the start, and the garments have been properly cared for.
Orders
11. Is there a minimum order?
No. At OKTShirt, there is no minimum order quantity for most of our printing and embroidery services. Whether you need a single personalised T-shirt, a small batch of hoodies for a new clothing brand or several hundred garments for your business, we're happy to help.
Many customers require only one garment as a gift, sample, or prototype before placing a larger order. Others need hundreds of uniforms for staff or promotional events. Our commercial equipment allows us to handle both small and large production runs while maintaining the same attention to quality.
If you're unsure which printing method is best for your order size, we'll recommend the most suitable option before production begins.
12. Can I order just one T-shirt?
Yes. We regularly produce single personalised T-shirts for birthdays, gifts, events, sports supporters, businesses and clothing brand samples.
Ordering one garment is also an excellent way to test a design before committing to a larger production run. Once you're happy with the result, we can easily reproduce the same design on additional garments whenever you need more.
Whether you require one T-shirt or one thousand, every order receives the same level of care and quality control.
13. Can I mix garment colours?
Yes. Most orders can include a variety of garment colours, provided the same garment style is available from our suppliers.
For example, if your business wants branded polo shirts, some members of staff may prefer black while others choose navy, grey or white. We can normally produce all of these in a single order while keeping your branding consistent.
If your design includes colours that may appear differently on light and dark garments, we'll advise whether any artwork adjustments are recommended to achieve the best possible result.
14. Can I mix garment sizes?
Absolutely. Most customer orders include a range of sizes.
Whether you're ordering uniforms for your staff, sports kits for a team or promotional clothing for an event, we can supply garments in different sizes within the same order.
Before production begins, we recommend providing a size breakdown to ensure every team member receives the correct garment. This helps avoid unnecessary exchanges and allows production to run more efficiently.
15. Can I supply my own garments?
In many cases, yes. If you already have your own garments, we may be able to print or embroider them, provided they are suitable for the chosen decoration method.
Before accepting customer-supplied garments, we recommend contacting us first. We'll need to check the fabric composition, the garment condition, and whether it is compatible with DTG, DTF, or embroidery.
Please note that decorating customer-supplied garments may be subject to limitations, and we cannot always guarantee the same results as with garments supplied through our trusted manufacturers.
16. Can I reorder later?
Yes. Many of our customers place repeat orders throughout the year.
Where possible, we keep a record of your artwork, garment details and previous production specifications, making future orders quicker and more consistent.
This is particularly useful for businesses ordering staff uniforms, schools replacing garments during the academic year, or clothing brands adding stock as demand grows.
If your original garments remain available from our suppliers, we can usually reproduce the same order with matching colours and decoration.
17. Do you offer bulk discounts?
Yes. Larger orders generally benefit from lower unit prices because production becomes more efficient.
The final price depends on several factors, including:
- Quantity required
- Garment type
- Printing or embroidery method
- Number of print locations
- Artwork complexity
Whether you're ordering 25, 100, 500 or several thousand garments, we'll provide a personalised quotation based on your specific requirements. We aim to offer excellent value while maintaining the high production standards we're known for.
18. How quickly can you complete my order?
Turnaround times vary depending on the order size, garment availability, and the required decoration method.
Smaller orders can often be completed much more quickly than large production runs, while complex embroidery projects may require additional preparation, such as logo digitising.
If you have an urgent deadline, please let us know when requesting your quotation. We'll do our best to accommodate your timescale without compromising quality.
We always recommend placing orders as early as possible, particularly during busy periods or before major events.
19. Can you ship throughout the UK?
Yes. Although our workshop is based in Great Barr, Birmingham, we regularly supply customers throughout the UK.
Orders are carefully inspected, packed and dispatched using reliable courier services to help ensure your garments arrive safely and in excellent condition.
Many of our customers never visit our workshop in person. Instead, they communicate with us by email or telephone, approve their artwork remotely and receive their completed garments directly at their home or business.
20. Can I collect from your Birmingham shop?
Yes. You're welcome to collect your completed order directly from our workshop in Great Barr, Birmingham.
Many local customers prefer to collect their garments because it allows them to see the finished products before leaving, ask any final questions, and discuss future projects with our team.
If you're travelling from nearby areas such as Erdington, Sutton Coldfield, Perry Barr, Walsall or West Bromwich, collection is often the quickest option once your order has been completed.
We'll always let you know when your garments are ready for collection, so you don't make an unnecessary journey.
Artwork
21. What artwork files do you accept?
We accept the most common artwork formats used for professional printing and embroidery. For the best possible results, we recommend vector files such as AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, as these can be resized without losing quality.
We also accept high-resolution PNG, PSD, JPEG and TIFF files, provided they are large enough for the intended print size.
If you're unsure whether your artwork is suitable, send it to us before placing your order. We'll review the file and let you know if it's ready for production or if any improvements are recommended.
The better the quality of the original artwork, the better the final printed or embroidered result will be.
22. Can you design my artwork?
Yes. If you don't already have artwork or your existing design needs improving, our team can help.
We regularly assist customers by:
- Creating new artwork from scratch.
- Adding names and text.
- Preparing logos for printing.
- Improving low-quality artwork.
- Creating simple clothing brand designs.
- Preparing artwork for embroidery.
Whether you need a business logo on workwear or a completely new design for your clothing brand, we'll discuss your ideas and advise on the best approach before production begins.
23. What resolution should my artwork be?
For printed garments, we recommend artwork with a resolution of at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) at the final print size.
Higher-resolution artwork produces sharper prints with better detail and cleaner edges.
If you're supplying raster artwork such as a PNG or JPEG, the image should be as large as possible. Small screenshots, images downloaded from social media or heavily compressed files often don't contain enough detail for professional printing.
Vector artwork (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) is always the preferred option because it can be scaled to any size without losing quality.
If you're unsure whether your artwork is suitable, we'll happily check it before production.
24. Can you remove image backgrounds?
Yes. We can often remove unwanted backgrounds from logos, graphics and photographs to prepare them for professional garment printing.
Many customers send artwork copied from websites or social media, including a white or coloured background. In most cases, we can isolate the design and prepare it for printing on light or dark garments.
If the original image is too small or of poor quality, additional artwork preparation may be required to achieve the best possible result.
We aim to ensure your design looks clean, professional and ready for printing before production begins.
25. Can you recreate my logo?
Yes. If your existing logo is low-resolution, blurry, or only available as a small image, we can often recreate it as high-quality artwork suitable for professional printing and embroidery.
This process, often called vectorising or redrawing, allows your logo to be reproduced at any size without losing quality.
Recreating artwork is particularly useful when:
- Your logo only exists as a screenshot.
- The original designer is no longer available.
- The artwork appears blurry when enlarged.
- You require embroidery-ready artwork.
Where possible, we recommend providing the highest-quality version of your logo, as this helps us recreate it more accurately.
26. Can you match brand colours?
Yes. We always aim to reproduce your branding as accurately as possible.
If your business has specific brand colours, please let us know before production begins. Providing your logo in its original format or supplying colour references such as Pantone, CMYK, or RGB values can help us achieve the closest possible match.
Although colours may appear slightly different across fabrics and garment colours, we carefully prepare artwork and production settings to ensure the finished result remains consistent throughout your order.
For businesses ordering branded uniforms or promotional clothing, maintaining consistent colours is an important part of presenting a professional image.
Garments
27. Which T-shirts do you recommend?
The best T-shirt depends on how you intend to use it. For clothing brands, we often recommend premium heavyweight cotton T-shirts because they offer excellent comfort, durability and a high-quality finish that enhances the printed design. For promotional events or large campaigns, there are also more economical options that still produce excellent results.
At OKTShirt, we help every customer choose the most suitable garment based on their budget, decoration method and intended use. Whether you're ordering one personalised T-shirt or several hundred for your business, we'll recommend garments that provide the best balance between quality, comfort and value.
28. Do you supply hoodies?
Yes. We supply a wide range of high-quality hoodies suitable for businesses, clothing brands, schools, sports clubs and personal projects.
Our hoodies are available in various colours, sizes and styles, including pullover and zip-up options. Depending on your artwork, we can professionally decorate them using DTG printing, DTF printing or embroidery.
Whether you need one personalised hoodie or hundreds of branded hoodies for your team or event, we can help you choose the most suitable option.
29. Can you print on tote bags?
Yes. We regularly print custom tote bags for businesses, charities, events, retailers and promotional campaigns.
Tote bags are a popular choice because they are practical, reusable and provide excellent visibility for your brand or message. We can print logos, illustrations, promotional artwork and personalised designs on a variety of cotton tote bags.
If you're unsure which style or printing method is most suitable, we're happy to advise before production begins.
30. Can you embroider caps?
Yes. We offer professional cap embroidery using commercial embroidery equipment that produces clean, durable, and professional-looking results.
Embroidered caps are popular with construction companies, sports clubs, tradespeople, clothing brands, and businesses looking to create premium-branded merchandise.
We can embroider company logos, initials, names and custom designs onto a variety of cap styles, including baseball caps, snapbacks and beanies.
31. Do you supply children's clothing?
Yes. We supply a range of children's garments suitable for schools, clubs, events, birthdays and personalised gifts.
Our range includes children's T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and other garments that can be professionally printed or embroidered.
Whether you need one personalised item or clothing for an entire school class or sports team, we can recommend garments that are comfortable, durable and suitable for children of different ages.
32. What brands do you use?
We work with several trusted garment manufacturers known for producing reliable, high-quality clothing suitable for professional printing and embroidery.
The most appropriate brand depends on your project, budget, and the decoration method you use. Some customers require premium heavyweight garments for clothing brands, while others need durable workwear or affordable promotional clothing.
Rather than recommending a single manufacturer for every order, we select garments that best meet your specific requirements.
33. Are your garments sustainable?
Many of the garments we supply are available in sustainable options, including those made from organic cotton and recycled materials.
If sustainability is important for your business or organisation, let us know when requesting your quotation. We'll recommend garments that meet your environmental goals without compromising on quality or print performance.
As more manufacturers expand their sustainable ranges, we're pleased to offer customers an increasing choice of environmentally responsible garments.
34. How should I wash printed clothing?
To keep your printed garments looking their best, we recommend washing them inside out at 30°C using a mild detergent.
Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals and high-temperature tumble drying, as these can reduce the lifespan of both the garment and the printed design.
Where possible, allow garments to air dry naturally and avoid ironing directly over the printed area. Following these simple care instructions will help maintain vibrant colours and excellent print quality for years to come.
35. How do I request a quotation?
Requesting a quotation is simple. Contact our team by phone, email or by visiting our shop in Great Barr, Birmingham.
To provide an accurate quotation, it helps if you can tell us:
- The type of garment you require.
- The quantity needed.
- Your preferred garment colour.
- The sizes required.
- Where would you like the design printed or embroidered?
- Your artwork or logo (if available).
- Your required completion date.
If you're unsure about any of these details, don't worry. We'll guide you through the process and recommend the most suitable garments and decoration methods based on your project and budget.
Expert Advice from the OKTShirt Team
If we could give every customer one piece of advice before ordering custom clothing, it would be this: don't choose your printing method based on price alone.
The garment, artwork quality and intended use all influence the final result. A premium garment with the right decoration method will usually look better, last longer and represent your business more professionally than choosing the cheapest option available.
If you're unsure which printing or embroidery method is right for your project, we'd much rather spend a few minutes advising you before production than see you invest in something that isn't the best fit for your needs.
That's why every project at OKTShirt - Custom Printing & Embroidery starts with a conversation—not a sales pitch
